ince 1905, there has been an Owens Funeral Home and it is the oldest continuously licensed funeral home in the Whiting-Robertsdale area. In 2007 Owens Funeral Home and Ruzich Funeral Home announced their merger as one firm with the purpose of better serving the family of the Whiting-Robertsdale area.
In the early 1890's, Dominic P. Owens, a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Illinois located on the southeast side of chicago, provided "in home" funeral services to Chicago, Hammond, and Whiting.
