About Highland Cemetery
The development of Highland Cemetery started to take shape in early December 1868. The inspiration for a new cemetery was due in part because the Old Sixth Street Graveyard in Covington was filled, and Covington's Linden Grove Cemetery had very few plots available. There are many prominent and historical people buried at Highland, with Civil War veterans and dedicated citizens of our tri-state area. The cemetery grew larger than first expected.
Services offered by Highland Cemetery
The facility at Fort Mitchell is on a tract of land over 250 acres in size, half of which is undeveloped and used for the Nature Trails. The facility contains three lakes, hundreds of large trees and rolling hills, waterfalls and streams. 150-acres of this land was turned into a Wildlife Enhancement Program and over 4 miles of hiking trails were installed.
