The story of Wood-Kotright Borkoski begins in 1909, when Walter and Bertha Wood opened a funeral home in Chardon, Ohio. They relocated to Atwater in 1912 and purchased the Paul Hamilton Funeral Home. Their son, Robert, became active in the family business in 1925.
In 1933, the Wood family opened a funeral home on North Chestnut St. in Ravenna. Three years later, they purchased the home of I.T. Siddell at the corner of Freedom St. and East Main St., which is the business’s current location.
