Burney is an unincorporated community town and census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California County, California, United States. Burney is located on California State Route 299 Route 299, about 4 miles west of its junction with California State Route 89 Route 89. The population was 3,217 at the 2000 census. The peak is 7,863 ft tall.

Another volcano sits south of Burney Mountain named Crater Peak, it is 8,677 ft tall.
