History
The size was increased in 1854 by the addition of parts of two other towns: Catharine, New York (Schuyler County) and Erin, New York (Chemung County, New York County). The town was created from part of the Spencer (town), New York of Spencer (Tioga County, New York County) in 1824, before the formation of Schuyler County. In the same year, Schuyler County was created, and Cayuta was included in the new county. The population was 545 at the 2000 census.
The first pioneers arrived around 1798 near the community of Cayuta. Cayuta is a town in Schuyler County, New York County, New York, United States.
