Moriah is a town in Essex County, New York, United States. The population was 4,798 at the 2010 census.The town is in the eastern part of the county. It is 47 miles (76 km) by road south-southwest of Burlington, Vermont, 55 miles (89 km) south of Plattsburgh, 115 miles (185 km) north of Albany, and 116 miles (187 km) south of Montreal. Moriah is inside the Adirondack Park.

History
Moriah is a town in Essex County, New York County, New York, United States. The early industry was primarily the mining and smelting of iron. Ice-fishing for Smelt on the frozen Lake Champlain has been a popular sport for more than a century, drawing tourists to join the natives in this activity. The population was 4,879 at the 2000 census.
After the French and Indian War, some British soldiers were granted land in the region. The Iron Center Museum in Port Henry recalls that past era.
