History

Fremont, an explorer. Hayes lived here for a while and dedicated a library to this town. Previous to this naming, the town was named Lower Sandusky (Established in 1817) but this name caused much confusion with Sandusky, Ohio and Upper Sandusky, Ohio also receiving delivery from the United States Postal Service. The population was 17,375 at the United States Census, 2000 census. Fremont is a city in and the county seat of Sandusky County, Ohio County, Ohio, United States.
